HOW TO UPGRADE TO AVG ANTIVIRUS FREE EDITION 8.0

1. Click HERE to download the setup file for AVG Antivirus Free Edition 8.0.1.

2.  Save the file to your Desktop. The file size is 45.57 MB..

3. Delete version 7.5 completely from your computer.

a. Windows XP Users: Click Start> Control Panel. When the Control Panel opens, double-click the Add and Remove Programs icon. From the installed programs list, highlight AVG 7.5 Free and click the Change/Remove button. When prompted to allow removal, click Yes to begin the uninstall process. If a popup box comes up, check all items and Click OK.

b. Windows Vista Users: Click the Start Orb>Control Panel. When the Control Panel opens, double click the icon for Programs and Features. In the Uninstall list, highlight AVG 7.5 Free Edition. If a User Account Control (UAC) box pops up, click the Allow button. If a popup box comes up, check all items and Click OK.

DO NOT allow the computer to restart because it will be unprotected.

4. Double click on the checkerboard icon setup file you saved to open it to install version 8.0. Let the program install to the default location.

5. Restart the computer. You will see a 4-color checkerboard icon on your Desktop and in the System Notification area in the bottom right-hand corner.

6. After the computer boots up to the Desktop, AVG should try to update its databases automatically. If it does not do so, follow Step 7.

7. To update AVG manually, double click the checkerboard icon to open the AVG User Interface or right-click the icon in the System Notification area and select Update Now. Perform this action throughout every week. Your computers protection is only as effective as the last update.
