Photo Slide Show Tutorial

This tutorial will make a full screen Slide Show with controls for your digital camera pictures. You can add music as a MP3 file if you like.

Steps to take

  • Under My Documents make a folder called My Slide Shows
  • Under My Slide Shows make a folder for the slide show you are planing to make. For this tutorial we will call it Thanksgiving 2003

  • Select, copy, and past the pictures you want for your slide show into this folder.

  • Now to make the slide show work, you need to add three files to this folder.


  • For the autorun.inf file and the DSSAR.EXE, place your pointer over the autorun.inf image and the DSSAR.EXE image, one at a time and click on it. You will get a download window that pops up. See graphic below. If you are using Firefox browser, you need to right click on the Autorun.inf file and choose save link to your slide show folder.
  • Choose to the save the button. You will now get another pop up window that asks you to save as...
  • With to arrow to the right scroll to you come to your My Documents and select My Slide Show.
  • Then select the folder for the slide show that you are planning to make, Thanksgiving 2003.
  • Hit the save button.
  • Repeat the download procedure for the other two files DSSAR.EXE and DSSAR.ICO. See Images on below .

    • Select My Slide Show and click on the open button and you will get the window below

    Select Thanksgiving 2003 and hit open. Then go to the download window and choose Save.

    Hit the open button to see if you have the files in there

  • The third file, DSSAR.ICO is an icon image file so when you click on it to download you get it on another page. You should right click on it and choose on the menu that come up Save Picture as... A window pops up asking you where you want to save it. Go thru the same steeps as for the two file above and save it in the Thanksgiving 2003 folder

  • Now with the 3 files and your pictures in the Thanksgiving 2003 folder and a MP3 music file if you like, you might make up a title page and an end page with a picture that goes along with your slide show theme.
    I use Paint Shop Pro for this.

  • Now burn a CD of the pictures and files you have in the folder and when you put the CD in you CD drive the Slide Show will start up automatically. If you right click on a pictures, a menu pops up. Hit F2 or choose toggle controls and you will get slide controls in at the top. To exit the slide show hit Esc.
