Paint Shop Pro SIG On Dec 5th 2004 - Creating a Seasons Greetings Card Using PSP version 9

Frank Mirabello the founder of the DBCC once told me there is nothing like receiving a home made card. Lets get started and create one!!! For this card we will need 5 PSP Picture Tubes that do not come with PSP 9. Download them to the Picture Tube folder in the PSP 9 folder. They are:

  • Spruce Tube. Download HERE
  • Poinsettia Tube. Download HERE
  • Stars Tube. Download HERE

    So let use begin. Go to file > new.

    Open PSP 9 and choose new image. On the new image dialog box and set with the drop down box on the right to pixels. set the image dimensions at 300 pixels high and 400 pixels wide, . Click OK. Save as snowman-background.jpg.

    Next make a blue gradient background. Set the foreground color a dark blue color, and a light blue color, for the background color, Choose the flood fill tool and fill the image with the gradient color. Save this image as snowman-background.jpg .

    Next Select the paint brush tool and paint the snowy hillside.

    Now add some PSP Tube shapes.

  • For the Snowman Tube, set the Scale to 50 and add him.
  • For the Spruce Tube, set the Scale to 25 and build a pine tree or two on the hill
  • For the Blue Star Tube, set the Scale to 100 and add a blue star to the right in the sky
  • For the Stars Tube, set the Scale to 100 and put stars in the sky
  • For the Holly Tube, set the Scale to 28 and add it to the bottom corner.
  • For the Poinsettia Tube, set the Scale to 25 and add poinsettias to the bottom right around the holly.

    • Add some snow, using the paint brush, on the spruce tree and you are done. Save your image in My Pictures as a jpeg file and give it a name like snowman-card.

    To print your cards use Creatacard Gold. When Creatacard opens choose Creative Workshop. For document type choose quarter fold horizontal. Click continue and you are in the workshop. Click on add picture and scroll to My Pictures and choose snowman.jpeg. On the inside bottom the Text button , font, color, and add your text, such as "Seasons Greetings From The Smiths".
    Open Save you card in My Cards under My Documents. Next hit the print button. Fold the card and you now have created something!!
